YESTERDAY'S prime cattle sale saw the flow-on effects of recent rain in the Valley.
Prices for export cattle were up on previous weeks and Ray Donovan Stock and Station Agents director Ray Donovan said there was more confidence in the market.
"We still want more local rain to get the creeks flowing and get that winter feed coming up," he said.
"Anywhere that got rain over the weekend has really greened up... the country has shot away, which is great."
Mr Donovan said there was more competition at this week's sale compared to last Tuesday.
"The best of the cows only went a few cents better than last week, but overall the prices were definitely up.
"The cattle coming down from Queensland have slowed up and there's been a bit of rain about which is helping."
Mr Donovan said he already had cattle coming forward for the store sale on March 13.
"I am confident there'll be a bit more demand for cattle," he said.
"But we do still want and need more local rain."
