ELECTRICIANS will be able to install solar panel and hot water systems free of restricting red-tape under licensing reforms announced today.
Previously, electrical contractors were fined if they completed building work while installing hot water or solar systems without imposing a whole other contract on their customer.
Only Building Services Authority-licence holders were allowed to carry out the building-side of the installations. Reforms Minister for Public Works and Housing Dr Bruce Flegg announced on Friday reduced that "red-tape" he said.
As a result, electricians will have the right to enter into contracts with a consumer to install hot water system and subcontract the plumbing work to a licensed plumber.
