AUSTRALIA and NZ will thrash it out for supremacy at the 2012 Australasian Auctioneering Championships (AAC).

THE battle between Australia and New Zealand is most famously played on the football field, but today in Adelaide, the two countries are thrashing it out for supremacy at the 2012 Australasian Auctioneering Championships (AAC).

The Australasian Real Estate Institutes' Auctioneering Championships were first held in 1993 and provide a significant opportunity for the Real Estate Institute of Australia and the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand to show off their very best Auctioneers.

This year, the Real Estate Institute of South Australia (REISA) is playing host and the five finalists battling it out today are Daniel Coulson and Andrew North from New Zealand, Western Australia's Rob Mason, Ben Brady from Queensland and South Australia's Michael Fenn.

Fenn and North were both finalists last year but lost out to three-time winner, New Zealand's Mark Sumich. The Aussies want revenge this year but New Zealand's North is a strong contender.

Open to the public, the Australasian Auctioneering Championships host 21 auctions over two days. The quality is truly exceptional with participants creating momentum in the bidding, while building rapport with the crowd.

Devised bidding processes test the Auctioneers' aptitude, attention and ability to think on their feet and to be successful, competitors have to deal with a wide range of testing questions and unpredictable bids.

Combining skill, professionalism and technical knowledge, the candidates are highly accomplished, high-energy performers.

Later today, the five finalists will be given the address and a tour of a property which will be the challenge to decide the winner of the highly prestigious title of the Real Estate Institute's Australasian Auctioneer Champion of 2012.
