A man is in critical condition following a two-vehicle incident on the Big River Way on Friday evening.
Coffs/Clarence Police have confirmed that they are investigating an incident in which a large roll of chicken wire has come loose from a vehicle travelling north on Big River Way and smashed through the windscreen of a Mazda Bravo following behind.
Officers attached to Coffs/Clarence Police District attended and found the driver, a 35-year-old man, with serious head and chest injuries.
He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene, before being taken to South Grafton, where he was airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.
Meanwhile, the two passengers of the vehicle, an eight-year-old girl and a three-year-old boy, were not injured.

According to Live Traffic NSW the incident occurred near Swan Creek Bridge along Big River Way near Boundary Road, Swan Creek.
The incident affected both directions of traffic on Big River Way.
A crime scene was established by police and specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit commenced an investigation into the circumstance surrounding the crash.
