Two teenage boys were busted driving a stolen car and crashed it into a fence following an alleged police pursuit in Grafton.
A 17-year-old boy was refused bail at a children’s court on Sunday after being charged with initiating a police pursuit, driving a stolen car and driving without a licence.
A 15-year-old boy has been granted conditional bail after being charged with being carried in a stolen car.
Police spotted a four-wheel drive – allegedly stolen from a Goonellabah home two nights prior – when patrolling Simpson Pde in Casino about 2am on Sunday.
Officers activated their lights and sirens to stop the car, however when the vehicle allegedly failed to stop a pursuit was initiated.
The car drove through Ellangowan and Myrtle Creek before entering Grafton.
One male was allegedly seen running from the vehicle on New St, before two teenagers allegedly abandoned the car on Jubilee Ave, causing it to crash into a fence.
The teenagers allegedly tried to flee the scene, but the boys were arrested shortly after.
Both boys were taken to Grafton Police Station and charged.
They will appear before the children’s court on later on Monday.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
