A truck driver was hurt and his vehicle and the two caravans he was carting were damaged in a dramatic crash on the M1 Pacific Highway at Woombah in the state’s north overnight.
All of the emergency services were called to the scene at about 9.30, after the smash on the median strip near the Iluka Rd overpass.
The truck was pulling two trailers - each loaded with a caravan.
The driver was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics but did not require hospitalisation.
Fire and Rescue NSW were on site until 1am, with a specialist hazardous materials unit called in to decant 300 litres of diesel from the stricken truck.
The Rural Fire Service provided fire protection at the site, while the State Emergency Service sent a crew from Maclean/Yamba to handle traffic control.
NSW Police have opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the single vehicle crash.
