A concreter has faced court after bombarding his ex with calls and threatening to kick down her door in the middle of the night.

Jacob Dolar, 25, appeared over audiovisual link at Grafton Local Court on Monday applying for a release application.

He pleaded guilty to two counts of contravene AVO after calling his ex-partner 28 times in the middle of the night while on bail for a separate matter.

He allegedly used his father's phone to contact his ex-partner, however, she immediately recognised his voice, the court heard.

The masses of texts and calls occurred between 1am and 4am on November 27.

It is believed the pair were not in contact for two years prior to the incident.

The court heard the victim responded to Dolar’s calls four times before he decided to drive more than an hour from Coffs Harbour to Grafton, threatening to kick the door in.

Police were called by the victim at 3am and by 4am Dolar had arrived at her address and was found standing on the balcony in front of her door.

Dolar’s threats to kick the door down did not eventuate, and he denied making any threats.

The court heard the pair had been in a relationship for five years.

In 2020, Dolar contacted the victim to change a statement following domestic violence charges, which police prosecutor Sergeant Fairleigh described as concerning.

“There was pressure by (Dolar) to withdraw allegations using significant threats,” Ms Fairleigh said.

She said victim’s protection was of concern if bail was granted, noting Dolar’s lengthy history of violence against her and his extensive criminal record.

Ms Fairleigh said bail may also risk witness interference in a separate matter.

Lawyer John Kelly said in Dolar’s defence he did not carry out his threats to kick the door.

Mr Kelly spoke of Dolar’s lengthy and sometimes violent criminal history, but said strict bail conditions could protect the victim.

Ms Crittenden told the court Dolar’s criminal history included prison sentences for serious domestic violence, including intentional choking, and acting with intent to influence a witness.

Despite a gap in offending, Ms Crittenden said no bail conditions could adequately mitigate concerns and refused bail.
