The Clarence has been on flood watch since the weekend with town levees under threat and roads crumbling under the pressure of flood waters.

In Lismore falling flood levels are revealing a world of devastation for residents and business owners who had very little time to prepare for an inundation of such ferocity.

The Clarence River at Grafton (Prince St) peaked around 7.66 metres at 1am Tuesday with major flooding and on Wednesday morning it was at 6.41 metres and falling slowly, with major flooding.

On Wednesday morning The Clarence River at Ulmarra was at 5.77 metres and falling slowly with major flooding, slightly below the levee level (5.90 metres).

The Clarence River at Maclean was steady near a peak of 3.36 metres, slightly above the town levee level (3.30 metres), with major flooding. High tides are influencing small rises and falls in river levels.
