A man has been flown to hospital in a critical condition after he was found unconscious in a Yamba street on Tuesday night.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked to Maclean hospital after 56-year-old man, who had suffered a head injury, was treated at the scene by paramedics.
He was placed medically induced coma by the Helicopter Critical Care Medical Team prior to being flown to Gold Coast University Hospital.
Mystery surrounds the circumstances of how the man came to be injured but a statement from NSW Police is forthcoming.
