Lots of lot: 5 Things coming up at today’s Clarence Valley Council committee meetings

A proposal for a 250-lot over 50’s resort is just one of many interesting things being considered at committee meetings this week.

Council will consider a range of items as they delve into committee meetings for June. Here’s five things that stood out in the agenda.

1. Lots of lots:

The application for a 250-lot manufactured home estate is before council again. To be known as Glencoe Lifestyle Resort, the DA was originally lodged on August 2019, and again in December 2020 and will sit alongside another proposed development of nearby land on Sheehans lane of a 71 lot residential subdivision, shopping complex and tavern.

2. Maclean Service Centre appears:

It has been long rumoured, but the first signs of concrete plans for the Maclean Service centre, proposed to be built on the southern interchange have appeared. The plans are currently a proposal to send the plan to the state government for gateway determination, and ask for a change in the LEP. It is the first steps in planning, before an official DA is presented.

3. Palmers Island proposal

Council is being asked to consider two proposals around the Palmers Island village – one for a rezoning of land to be subdivided into a maximum of seven lots, and the other to rezone a parcel of land to enable a rural supplies business. The proposal may struggle to see fruition as council officers are recommending to councillors to not support either plan.

4. Pay plan considered.

Councillors will make their determination on whether to increase pay rates for councillors and the mayor for the year. The recommended increase of 2 per cent would bring councillors pay to $24,810 and the mayor an addition $61,280.

5. Here Comes The Sun

An investigation to replace a large section of landfill area into a mid scale solar farm will be presented to council. The 3.5ha site is expected to have a capacity of 4.2MW and could produce enough electricity to supply 52.93 per cent of council’s electricity footprint.
