LETTER: Waging a war we can't afford, apparently

IF we can waste so much on that mad, pointless war, we can afford just about anything at all.

IMMEDIATELY after the Brexit vote, Malcolm Turnbull set about making people worry.

He claimed that in the uncertain days ahead, Australia needs his government for its economic management skills.

No, we don't. His government is throwing away and burning $2 million a day, $730 million a year, on a war in Syria - and it has been two years already.

This war does not involve us, has no discernible end, and will profit us nothing even if we do win it.

At the same time as he throws away and burns all this money, Malcolm Turnbull says that we can't afford this, that or the other.

Rubbish! Our self-proclaimed economic manager has shot himself in the foot.

He forgets that if we can waste so much on that mad, pointless war, we can afford just about anything at all. And if in fact that we can't afford just anything at all, then we can't afford that war.

One way or the other, Malcolm Turnbull is telling a huge and crazy lie.

Any government which puts us into such a senseless bind, then keeps us in it, is not worth voting for.

Next Saturday, we should put Malcolm Turnbull and all his mates last.
