TRIAL and error is a process many photographers will relate to.
It's the approach Jeremy Billett, from Harwood, took when he started taking photos as a teenager - firstly with film and then later with a digital camera.
"I taught myself everything," he said.
"I used to wander around at night time taking photos using a long exposure.
"Then I started getting up early to photograph the sunrise over the water at the beach."
Using his favourite technique of long exposure, Mr Billett returns to the beach often at dusk and dawn to capture what has become his signature style.
Redcliffe, near Brooms Head, is one of his favourite haunts, but he ranges as far as Byron Bay and Coffs searching for scenes to inspire his next work.
Later this month, Mr Billet will join dozens of other Clarence Valley creatives as a stall holder at Grafton's This is Art Market where many of his favourite images will be framed in various sizes for sale.
He's hoping to repeat last year's successes again this time round; Mr Billet said it was a great feeling to sell one of his prints.
"It's recognition people appreciate what I'm doing and makes me want to go out and do more," he said.
This is Art Market will be held in the Barn at Grafton Showgrounds on Sunday March 30 from 9am to 2pm.
