GRAFTON teenager Ethan Meyer-Creighton obviously hadn't heard the saying 'don't kiss and tell' when he tried to use saliva-swapping with a drunk girl as an excuse for a positive random breath test reading.

The 19-year-old P-plater appeared in Grafton Local Court on Monday charged with special range drink-driving, after he was pulled over by officers in South Grafton in the early hours of April 12.

According to the tendered facts police could smell intoxicating liquor emitting from the vehicle as they approached.

When asked if he had been drinking, the driver stated "he had only recently kissed a drunk female so may be over the limit".

After testing positive to alcohol he was taken back to the Grafton police station where subsequent testing recorded a mid-range blood alcohol reading of 0.090.

He later told police he had consumed "at least two" drinks the previous evening.

Magistrate Robyn Denes acknowledged Meyer-Creighton's guilty plea and the fact he had completed the traffic offenders program.

He was fined $750 and disqualified from driving for six months.
