AUSTRALIA Day at the Creeds' isn't just about snags on the barbie and a dip in the pool.

Armed with their top 10 songs for 2013, family and friends gather for a day of Australian traditions, one being the triple j Hottest 100 countdown.

Glen Creed has hosted registered triple j parties for the past four years, where the legendary trophy - a tomato sauce bottle on a stand - is up for grabs to the attendee who guesses the top 10 from the station's list.

Reigning champion and son of the host Ryan Creed said there was a fair bit of preparation that went into compiling the final list, and some took it more seriously than others.

"I generally create a playlist over the course of the year, then go back over it the day before the countdown, but Dad has printed out the 15-page shortlist and I know he studies it for hours," Ryan said.

Not one to deny his study regime, Glen said the only way to win was to knuckle down.

"Except one year when Ryan's mother won and she has not a clue about music, but just decided to copy the list in The Daily Examiner - she got 8/10!" Glen said.

Yet to claim the winning trophy, Glen said this year was his turn.

"Last year I thought I had beaten Ryan, but he got me on the second-last song which I didn't rate at all," Glen said.

"I had already started doing the victory dance.

"So this year I keep threatening I am going to take out the double - the win and also the fancy dress!"

YOUR CHANCE TO WIN
TO HELP get your Australia Day party started The Daily Examiner has a bunch of Aussie-made and themed sweet treats from family company BigLolly.com.au to give away.

The colour-themed treats are a novel way to brighten up your Australia Day celebrations.

Why not whack a few on your pavlova or pop them in your home-made lemonade ice blocks?

But like all sugary treats, make sure you share them with your friends and enjoy them in moderation.

To be in the running for a four-pack of Joo Joo's treats phone The Daily Examiner on 66430500 from 8.30am until midday on Thursday and tell us who our 2013 Citizen of the Year was.
