Dallas Davy-Netto: South Grafton man charged over offensive texts

A young father from the NSW north coast has admitted peppering his ex-partner with texts calling her vile names for several months after the pair broke up.

A Clarence Valley man who bombarded his ex-girlfriend with offensive texts calling her vile names has received a stern dressing down from a magistrate.

Dallas Davy-Netto, 24, was charged with using a carriage service to menace or harass someone after his ex-partner reported his determined harassment to police.

Agreed police facts tendered to the court reveal the pair broke up early this year – and the South Grafton man turned nasty when it became clear the pair would not reconcile.

“Since the separation Davy-Netto has been sending an extensive amount of text messages to the victim of abuse,” police facts state.

“The messages include abuse such as ‘you’re a f***ing whore’, ‘dirty slut’ and ‘your (sic) a f***ing slut’.”

Davy-Netto called the victim 13 times on August 24 alone, despite her numerous attempts to block him.

He pleaded guilty to the single charge at Grafton Local Court on November 22, where Magistrate Kathy Crittenden had a severe rebuke for his “highly offensive” messages.

“People use mobile phones to convey offensive messages and in the modern world, just about everything is recorded – you need to be aware of that,” Ms Crittenden said.

“People are entitled to end relationships and move on with their lives without being subjected to this sort of abuse and harassment.”

Ms Crittenden sentenced Davy-Netto to a 12-month Commonwealth recognisance with supervision, an order to undergo domestic violence education and a $500 fine.

“This spanned many months, it’s not a single loss of control,” Ms Crittenden said.

“There are always other ways of going about resolving the emotional distress that comes from relationship breakdowns – this is never the answer.”

The court heard Davy-Netto would defend 18 charges of possessing an unauthorised weapon, laid when police arrested him over the texts, at a hearing next year.
