Road works to begin from next week

Anyone wishing to relive traffic delays during their daily commute into work are about to get a pleasant surprise.

Changes to two major thoroughfares are coming to the Clarence Valley Transport for NSW has announced.

From next week, a section of the shared user path between the stairs at the northern end of the new Grafton bridge and the Pound Street viaduct will be closed to all pedestrians and cyclists with investigations to be carried out on the northern bridge approach.

Work will be carried out from 7am to 6pm, from Monday June 28 to Wednesday June 30. The path will remain closed overnight on Monday and Tuesday, however, the pedestrian walkway and cycleway on the old Grafton Bridge will remain open at all times during the investigations.

Downriver, traffic on Big River Way at Ulmarra will be reduced to one lane as work is carried out for asphalt resurfacing between Hoades and Commerfords Lanes. Weather permitting, work is expected to be carried out from Monday June 28 on weekdays, and Saturdays from 7am to 6pm. Transport for NSW estimate a July 9 completion.
