If you’re into dressing up for the races, there’s good news as the July Carnival wraps up with Maclean Bowling Club Maclean Cup Day on Sunday.

The Maclean Bowling Club, along with an assortment of Lower Clarence businesses is again running the kids fashions on the field this year.

And for those of you missing the fashion stakes for adults, you’ll get a chance to compete for prizes too – with just one catch.

This year, along with four categories for the kids, there is a prize for the best dressed family fashions.

“We’re really looking forward to family, where one entrant who is 18+ with a family member who has entered in one of the kids categories can win with prizes thanks to Spar Maclean,” Maclean Bowling Club marketing manager Tamara Bendeich said.

“As well as vouchers from the bowling club which can be spent at many businesses in Maclean, we’ve been supported by businesses such as Sweetpea for Me, Ta’Chele Australias, Shoes@Carneys and Mobilebarn.

“We’ll have three judges on the day, and everything will be run under the Covid restrictions.

“We’re really looking forward to seeing people get into the spirit of the day and support it.”

Ms Bendeich said there was still tickets for the trip from Maclean to Cup Day, whether you wanted to go by ferry or bus.

“The boat leaves at 8am from the Maclean wharf, or the bus leaves the club at 10.30,” she said.

“And we supply a hot breakfast on both so ask people to arrive early.

“The ticket will get you into the races, the return trip and a Chinese smorgasbord back the club – the first we’ve been able to have since Covid restrictions were in place.”

Tickets are $95pp by the ferry with entertainment on-board by local duo Tangle, or $60 by coach and available through the bowling club office.

On course there is an eight race program with the first race set to jump at 12.15pm.
