SPLENDOUR in the Grass is just around the corner and we want to make sure you have the very best Splendour experience imaginable.

To ensure the first Splendour on the Coast is the best Splendour ever, we've sourced some hints and tips to guide you through your festival fun times.

Everyone wants to have a fun and safe Splendour experience, so plenty of police will be around to ensure that all splendid ones behave themselves.

There will also be drug detection dogs on site, so bear that in mind.

Of course, accidents will happen, and just in case you find yourself the unlucky recipient of a cut hand or broken leg, or worse, there will be a comprehensive on-site health service with doctors, paramedics and chill-out areas.

Keep an eye on your friends, and if they aren't coping, make sure you help them find their way there.

And remember, footwear must be worn at all times throughout the festival... except maybe when you are in bed.

Closed-in shoes are best because bare feet and thongs tend to wind up with the wearers visiting the first aid tent.

It might be winter but it can still get pretty warm at Woodfordia. Keep yourself well hydrated with plenty of water. You can even take sealed plastic bottles of water into the entertainment precinct.

A festival wouldn't be the same without the responsible consumption of alcohol and Splendour has that catered for. But just like at all festivals, you will have to show ID to buy alcohol.

If you cannot produce adequate identification you will be treated as a minor and excluded from all bar services and areas.

There are plenty of opportunities to purchase alcohol at Splendour, so you won't need to take your own. In fact, you aren't allowed, so leave it at home.

If driving home is not an option, don't think you can just camp or sleep in your vehicle. Camping is not allowed, except in the designated Woodfordia campgrounds.

To keep you warm at the campgrounds, there will be supervised communal bonfires at a few locations. Starting your own fires or fire twirling is not permitted and will land you outside the event, unable to get back in.

If staying at Woodfordia is not an option, why not take advantage of the public transport on offer?

Buses will service the Coast, Kilcoy, Lake Somerset Holiday Park, Maleny, Landsborough, Glasshouse Mountains and Caboolture.

The usual standard items, such as weapons, drugs, fireworks, glassware and anything studded, are prohibited inside the festival, as are skateboards, boogie boards, and recording devices, including professional still cameras and video cameras, and lasers.

But the newest item to be banned is the vuvuzela, so if that was going to be your secret weapon for disruption, leave it at home – you will not be let in with it even if you promise not to use it.

And as far as stage-diving or crowd surfing go, think again. It will result in your eviction from the festival and you will not be permitted to re-enter.

All the rules and regulations are there to get you home safe and sound and to help you have the best Splendour ever.
