Steve Lavallee's daughter-in-law is now in remission after suffering from acute lymphoma leukemia.
The pair are no strangers to the heartache of cancer, prompting them to sign up for this year's World's Greatest Shave.
The men will join a crew of Bunnings employees for the event, with some shaving and others colouring their hair on March 15.
Mr Lavallee has had a beard since 1983 and has asked for it to be shaved as well.
I'll also be shaving my beard off - and I've had it for 30 years so it'll be quite a surprise."
"My daughter has never seen me without a beard," Mr Lavallee said.
Sam and Steve will be joined by Anita Cowan, Dean Frost, Anita Squires, and any other Bunnings staff who are brave enough to take part in the event.
Head to the DIY area at Bunnings on March 15 at 2pm to watch and donate some coin to the Leukaemia Foundation.
The group have been shaking the donation bucket at the local services clubs and are planning to hold a car wash to raise funds.
"We're looking to raise over $1000," Mr Lavallee said. Raffle tickets will be sold, with meat vouchers, hairdressers' vouchers, and goodies from Bunnings Grafton as the major prizes.
