As things develop across the Clarence Valley the SES has warned major flooding is likely in Grafton on Thursday and residents need to take action now, particularly those in low lying areas.
“We are urging residents who went through this before and were isolated to act now and get food, fuel and medical supplies so you don’t require resupply during this event,” Ms Chappell said.
Currently the Clarence River is rising to a moderate level at Prince St.
“The flooding is likely to create problems for Grafton on Thursday particularly in low lying farms and properties,” Ulmarra SES Unit Commander Sue Chappell said.
These include Carr’s Island farmland which will be inundated when the Prince Street gauge reaches 2.4 metres.
Earlier today it was 2.35 metres at 7.30am.
The SES were kept busy overnight with several call-outs in the Grafton area mainly for fallen trees.
Further across the Clarence Valley the focus currently for the SES is on Yamba, Iluka, Minnie Waters and Wooli as they experience windy conditions combined with an east coast swell.
