The coronial inquest into the mysterious disappearance of a woman who went camping and was never seen again will be held in Grafton.

Annemarie Jeffery, aged 73, from Coffs Harbour, was reported missing on August 25, 2020.

She was last seen at the beachside Lake Arragan campground near Brooms Head, and concerns were raised when she went to the amenities block and failed to return to her campsite.

At the time Coffs-Clarence Acting Inspector Richard Garrels said Ms Jeffery had been camping with her husband and friends.

Her husband raised the alarm with authorities approximately an hour later, sparking a large scale search.

The fortnight-long search operation involved Police Rescue, the State Emergency Service, Rural Fire Service, National Parks, Water Police and Dog Squad.

Ms Jeffery was last seen wearing a red and pink top, woollen leggings, red shoes, and a beanie.

The inquest was scheduled to start in Grafton today (August 29), but magistrate Kathy Crittenden established that the Coroner was not ready to proceed, and adjourned the matter to November 4.

South African-born, Ms Jeffery was a university qualified nurse and midwife.

When the search for her was formally suspended, the case became a missing person investigation.
