IN A society seemingly obsessed with youth, Seniors Week is a celebration of life for people with experience.
The aging process may have its positives and negatives, however, many seniors will point out that like paintings by old masters, life too can improve with age.
Old Masters: Improving with age is the title of an ongoing program for seniors at Grafton Regional Gallery.
The program is delivered in partnership with Grafton Uni- versity of the Third Age (U3A) and includes a tour of exhibitions on show at the gallery.
This week the program was extended into a Seniors Week invitation to all seniors across our community to enjoy.
According to gallery director Jude McBean, the seniors who attended yesterday's tour enjoyed viewing work by Franciso Goya (considered one of the most influential old masters of western art).
Ms McBean said the gallery had a long-standing partnership with the Grafton U3A group to provide members with a series of talks. Yesterday that was coupled with Seniors Week activities to provide the program to a wider audience.
"Hopefully they will come along on a more regular basis," Ms McBean said.
"We had a look at the Tracy Moffatt exhibition, the Goya exhibition, the drawings by Catherine O'Donnell and a wonderful flora exhibition of work from the collection."
