$25K heist: Man charged with jewellery theft

A GRAFTON man has been charged with stealing thousands of dollars worth of jewellery during a break-and-enter at an Ulmarra antique shop last month.

A GRAFTON man has been charged with stealing thousands of dollars worth of jewellery during a break-and-enter at an Ulmarra antique shop last month.

Jewellery to the value of $25,000 was allegedly stolen from a second-hand antique and jewellery shop on the Pacific Hwy on the evening of January 20.

Following investigations, police from the local target action group executed a search warrant on a house on Queen St, Grafton on Wednesday morning.

Police said they recovered jewellery believed to have been stolen from the antique store, as well as a number of items with possible links to other break and enters in the area.

Also allegedly found at the scene was a small amount of white powder, believed to be methalamphetamine, a cannabis plant and a small quantity of cannabis.

A 26-year old man was arrested and has since been charged with offences including break-in and steal, possession of a prohibited drug, and possession of a prohibited plant.

He has been refused bail. and will appear before a magistrate at Grafton Local Court on Monday.
