A former high-ranking member of the Nomads bikie gang has appeared in court charged over an alleged kidnapping and extortion attempt of another man at Wentworthville in Sydney’s west.

Former high-ranking Nomads bikie Michael Issa has been refused bail over an alleged kidnapping and extortion attempt to collect a debt.

Police will allege a 52-year-old victim met with two men at a Wentworthville hotel on Tuesday before he was bundled into a vehicle and driven around Sydney’s west.

They allegedly stole his phone and wallet before he was allegedly assaulted and threatened in an extortion attempt before being tossed into the night.

Detectives from the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad launched an investigation alongside Blacktown Police and stopped two men, 29-year-old Issa and a 42-year-old driving a van at Pendle Hill the next day.

While searching the vehicle officers allegedly found a gun, cable ties, duct tape, rope, a knife, mobile phones and cash before arresting the pair.

Issa, who is a builder from Greystanes with a penchant for gold bling and fast cars, was charged with several offences including take/detain person in company with intent to ransom, aggravated robbery and inflict actual bodily harm.

The 29-year-old was also charged over an alleged intimidation incident in December last year.

Strike Force Raptor also charged Issa with stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm over a separate incident in December 2018.

It will be alleged in court that he intimidated another man in an attempt to collect a debt unrelated to the alleged kidnapping.

Issa appeared at Fairfield Local Court yesterday and was refused bail.

He will reappear at Parramatta Local Court on March 14 and 28 for the respective matters.

The 42-year-old man was released without charge.
