A woman who lost her family home to bushfires last month has been brought to tears after a tiny house was delivered to her scorched property this week.

Nina Jongen lost her family home in a firestorm in Nymboida in the Northern Rivers region of NSW on November 8.

The devastating blaze destroyed 85 homes in the town of just 298 people.

“Our family property that I’ve lived in since I was one-year-old, which has been my current home for the last few years, it’s just scorched, it’s been a huge upheaval,” Ms Jongen said

“We’ve been living quite unsettled and transient between different bases, trying to find our way back into life,” the young mum said.

With her daughter Miwanyo, 9, the family has been couch-surfing and staying at friends as they attempt to rebuild.

Unbeknown to her, Ms Jongen’s friend Linda Guiliano entered her in an Amazon Prime Tiny Holiday House competition last month after they lost their home.

She was “blown away and immensely grateful” when she learned they had won.

“When I found out Linda nominated me for this competition, I felt so touched and blessed to have a beautiful friend in my life who would so such a lovely thing for me,” she said.

“At this point, it just means the world, I’ve just lost my home in a bushfire and now I have a luxurious, comfortable little space to call home while we rebuild our lives.”

Ms Jongen and her family have been trying to stay close to the property while they rebuild and regenerate the land and “this house just makes the world of difference to that”.

“I’m so excited to have comfort and somewhere to rest and relax and to call my own.

At least three million hectares of land has been torched across Australia in recent months, with six people killed and more than 800 homes destroyed in a devastating bushfire season.

Scientists say the blazes have come earlier and with more intensity than usual due to global warming and a prolonged drought that has left the land tinder dry and many towns running out of water.
