THEY were looking for drugs, guns and the accoutrements of the gangster life. What the cops who raided Kings Cross identity John Ibrahim’s clifftop mansion got instead were eyebrows.
Two sets, to be precise. Still on the wax strip that ripped them from their former owners’ heads.
But whose were they? Were they part of some underworld beauty regimen? Or a trophy, scalped from the unfortunate victims of a prank or punishment?
Officers say they found the follicles in the lounge of the former nightclub owner’s Dover Heights home on August 8 last year.
The first set was discovered at 12.35pm on a shelf between a computer desk and a fireplace. The second was found shortly after in the same area.
When asked whose eyebrows they were, Ibrahim replied on Friday: “No comment.”
A possible explanation is they were trophies from the punishment handed out to Ryan Watsford and Jaron Chester, who were allegedly caught skimming money from members of the Ibrahim family.

While it doesn’t fit with stereotypical Kings Cross punishments such as kneecappings or removing tattoos with cheese graters, Watsford and Chester had their heads shaved and their eyebrows removed in May 2017.
This was before they were charged over their alleged roles in an international tobacco and drug-smuggling syndicate.
John’s brother Michael Ibrahim was charged with masterminding the smuggling operation that attempted to ship almost two tonnes of drugs into Australia, while another brother, Fadi, was charged with allegedly financing a tobacco shipment. All four are understood to be preparing to fight the charges. John Ibrahim has not been charged and there is no suggestion he was involved in any criminal activity. It is not known if the waxing happened in his house or if that is where the strips ended up as trophies.
It is not the first time that police raids on Ibrahim’s home have turned up the unexpected.
In his autobiography, Ibrahim wrote that during an earlier raid police found his cupboard full of sex toys.
“First it’s the dildos, then the ticklers, and next a packet of nipple clamps,” he wrote.
What has not been revealed until now is that a beautician, the then girlfriend of John Ibrahim’s son Daniel, was called in to perform the waxing on Chester and Watsford.
She attempted to draw eyebrows and hair follicles on Watsford’s head after the waxing, a source said.
Chester had a panic attack, while Watsford allegedly told the beautician to relax and that he was prepared for the punishment.
“Watsford told her, ‘Just chill out, hon. It’s all good’,” a source said.
“Then he said, ‘They’re gunna grow back in four to six weeks and she’s given me this amazing eyeliner’. He told people he reckoned he looks a million dollars and was strutting around Rose Bay like he’s killing it.”
This was despite friends telling him this was unlikely because he was almost 40 and there was a chance they would never grow back because they had been ripped out.
Chester asked the beautician if she could provide him with valium, the source said.
It was not the first time Watsford had been targeted by the Ibrahims for such punishment.
On an earlier holiday to Thailand, Watsford’s eyebrows were shaved and a source said he “smashed every mirror in the villa so he didn’t have to look at himself”.
