An emerging rugby league star was charged with low-range drink-driving seven weeks after allegedly rolling a car and hitting three others in Sydney’s south.

Jaeman Salmon, 19, allegedly lost control of a Jeep Cherokee, crossing onto the wrong side of Kareena Rd, Miranda, at 9.10am on October 13.

Police allege Salmon, a talented five-eighth who debuted for the Parramatta Eels in 2018, had to be taken to hospital after hitting the cars and flipping the Jeep onto its roof.

He was released from hospital a short time later, after mandatory blood alcohol tests.

Both the club and police confirmed Salmon had been charged with low-range drink-driving on Sunday, after results of the tests had returned.

“Jaeman has already completed a safe driving course, however, once the legal process has been finalised, the club will take the relevant next steps,” the Eels said in a statement.

“In the meantime, the club is working with Jaeman to ensure a clear understanding of road safety matters, and that all key lessons have been learned and embedded for future application.”

NSW Police confirmed Salmon had been given a notice to attend Sutherland Local Court on January 17.

Salmon debuted against the Gold Coast Titans in round 21 and played five games for the Eels.
