Duchess of Sussex’s changing accent making her sound posher than the Queen

RAW: Duke and Duchess of Sussex meet royal fans at Bondi Beach

THE DUCHESS of Sussex’s changing accent has become the talk of the Australian royal tour with baffled fans observing she now sounds posher than the Queen.

There is no doubt former Suits star Meghan has adjusted to fit in with her in-laws, but the newest royal appears to have dropped her American twang for clipped, precise, British tones more attuned to sounding like HRH ‘Lilibet and polished in-law Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge.

When young royalist Estelle Gibson, eight, handed her a poster on the western boardwalk of the Opera House on Tuesday, Meghan gushed back in regal tones: “That’s very sweet, is that for me? Oh my goodness, did you make this?”

It’s natural to adopt a bit of a local twang when you move abroad but given that Meghan has lived in the UK for just ten months, it feels perhaps a little premature.

Observers at Bondi today were left equally agog remarking her cutglass accent made them want one.

Budgy Smugglers staff Giovanni Testini was this morning parading the royal edition of the swimwear with his colleague Jarrod Allen hoping to present a baby pair to the touring couple.

“We’re calling it, it’s a boy, we’re giving them a male version of the swimwear,” Giovanni said.

“I’ve watched every episode of Suits and Meghan is great in it- her accent has changed a lot, but don’t all new royals have elocution lessons?”

Bondi Mermaid Liz Mania hovered in the crowd clutching glitter in the hope of showering the couple on the beach.

“Glitter is happiness and joy, it’s a joyous moment for Harry and Meghan who are expecting hair first child- why not?”
