Drugs, gun seized in Strike Force Raptor raid in Wollongong
A MAN, 45, has been charged after heroin, methylamphetamine, Valium and a replica pistol were allegedly found during a raid by Strike Force Raptor officers in the state’s Illawarra region.

HEROIN, methylamphetamine, Valium and a replica pistol were allegedly found during a raid by Strike Force Raptor officers in the state’s Illawarra region.
Strike Force Raptor, which targets outlaw motorcycle gang activity around Sydney and recently branched out to Wollongong and Newcastle, arrested 45-year-old man Wayne Grant after they searched a room at a hotel on Gladstone Ave, Wollongong, about 11.30am yesterday.
Officers from the Criminal Groups Squad’s Strike Force Raptor South allege shotgun cartridges and a stun device were also located inside the hotel room. Police have ordered a forensic analysis on all the items seized including the drugs.
Grant, from Fairy Meadows, was charged with two counts of supply prohibited drug, possess unauthorised pistol and, possess prescribed restricted substance.
He was refused bail and is due to appear at Wollongong Local Court today where he was formally refused bail.
He will reappear before the same court on August 8.

The arrest was part of Strike Force Raptor’s ongoing investigation into supply and distribution of methylamphetamine in the region.
A second man, Reece Barnett, 33, was also arrested and later charged in relation to outstanding offences.
He was also refused bail at Wollongong Local Court today to appear again on July 25.
