A man, who is disqualified from driving until 2069, will face court today charged following a police pursuit with Strike Force Raptor through Sydney’s south west.

Just after 12.30pm yesterday, the Criminal Groups Squad’s Strike Force Raptor Highway Patrol was patrolling in Greenacre, when they spotted a Holden Commodore sedan, allegedly displaying stolen numberplates.

Officers attempted to pull the vehicle over on Brunker Road; however, when the Commodore sedan failed to stop, investigators, with the assistance of officers from Bankstown Police Area Command, commenced a police pursuit.

A short time later, police stopped the Commodore sedan on Chapel Road, Bankstown, and the driver ran from the vehicle.

Strike Force Raptor pursued the driver, a 47-year-old Caringbah man, on foot before he was arrested nearby. A check of the man’s licence revealed he is disqualified from driving until 2069.

He was taken to Bankstown Police Station, where he was charged with drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, police pursuit - not stop - drive recklessly, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, goods in personal custody suspected being stolen, resist officer in execution of duty, and dishonestly possess interfered with unique identifier.

The man was refused bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court today.

Inquiries continue.
