Developer Mirvac has unveiled revised plans for a $1.8bn revamp of the tired Harbourside Shopping Centre at Darling Harbour.
The original plans were met with protests from neighbours resulting in a 42-storey tower housing 357 apartments being moved to clear their water views.
“This is the final piece that completes Darling Harbour as a true destination for both locals and visitors, and we are very excited about the opportunity to transform this iconic site,” Mirvac chief investment officer Brett Draffen said. He said the proposal addressed concerns about the loss of public space.

The new centre incorporates 8000sq m of public space, including a civic square, a widened waterfront boulevard and a footbridge link to Pyrmont.
It complements plans for the redevelopment of Pyrmont that Premier Gladys Berejiklian has called “the gateway to the CBD”.
A new $750m Sydney Fish Market is being built with plans to develop the existing site into a waterfront walkway with apartments and restaurants.
