Daily Telegraph Power 100 2022: Who didn’t make the list?

The list of who makes waves in Sydney has more than 20 debutants in 2022. Find out who has been forced out of The Daily Telegraph Power 100 rankings.

Who didn’t make Sydney’s power list in 2022?

There are many ways to be dumped from the Power 100 — one is by having your spot snatched by someone who has stormed onto the scene. Another is to do a Gladys.

The former NSW premier was number three last year, but is nowhere to be seen in 2022.

That makes Ms Berejiklian the highest-ranked departee, a title taken by James Packer in 2021.

The cutthroat nature of politics means she is not the only person in that particular line of work to fall off the list. Far from it.

Remember Jodi McKay, Ms Berejiklian’s opposite number?

Exactly.

Former deputy premier John Barilaro is gone too. Despite those repeated threats to blow up the state government, in the end it outlasted him.

WHO REALLY PULLS THE STRINGS IN SYDNEY?

WHO ARE SYDNEY’S MOST POWERFUL CELEBS?

Ms Berejiklian’s exit has also cost her right-hand man Tim Reardon his place.

Among those also squeezed out is Graham Richardson. Somebody has to be no. 101. Sorry Richo. It’s not our fault. Blame the fresh talent who, through their deeds, have demanded a place in our rankings of the most influential.

Perhaps the second-biggest name to depart the rankings after Gladys is Alan. Alan Jones.

He fell from 10 in 2020 to 46 last year after leaving 2GB and is now gone altogether after leaving Sky News.

A year ago, Australia was belatedly embarking on the Covid vaccination rollout.

That saw AstraZeneca country president Liz Chatwin and Pfizer Australia MD Anne Harris debut, at no.9.

However, the jab duo is not back for a second dose.

Peter Crinis joined the 100 last year at no. 47, as the new boss of Crown Sydney and Crown Hotels. But he didn’t last long in the job and hence has made way.

Bingo boss Daniel Tartak was another new name. He sold up to Macquarie bankers during the year and is no longer running the business founded by his father. So no spot for you.

The sheer number of departures from our list demonstrates just how dynamic power is in the nation’s most exciting but cutthroat city. Find out who made the cut later this week.

The Daily Telegraph’s Power 100 list is published on February 11 in print and online.
