Given the entertainment industry delivers billions of dollars annually to the local economy, it is no surprise some of our top actors made the 2022 Power 100 list.
Soaring through yet another Hollywood awards season thanks to her star turn in hit TV drama Being the Ricardos, homegrown Sydney actor Nicole Kidman rises to number 13.
She yet again had a phenomenal year, here in Australia and abroad.
Locally, she celebrated a major win by bringing international TV production, Nine Perfect Strangers, to Australia, showing the rest of the world we can make top quality television in northern NSW.
She also insisted on bringing another US TV production here, working through lockdown and strict Covid protocols to shoot Roar alongside Simon Baker and Judy Davis.
Fellow Academy Award winner Russell Crowe is down at 66, compared to 57 the year prior.
He too contributed greatly to the local film industry, bringing his production of feature film Poker Face to Sydney and the south coast. Additionally, he is hugely active in the NRL.
Thor hunk Chris Hemsworth, award-winning author Liane Moriarty, Channel 7 boss James Warburton, AM radio broadcasters Ben Fordham and Ray Hadley and controversial KIIS breakfast host Kyle Sandilands have all made the cut for their contributions.
TV and radio host Erin Molan is a new addition to the Power 100 list, while social media superstars The Inspired Unemployed again feature, this year in position 93.
Veteran actor Bryan Brown rounds out the Power 100 in the final spot, down 13 on last year but still recognised for his work in the field, as well as for lobbying the government on tax breaks for the industry.
Brown, 74, added published author to his resume with the release of crime fiction novel, Sweet Jimmy.
The Daily Telegraph’s Power 100 list is published on February 11 in print and online.
