Regional NSW is facing a new Covid scare after a Melbourne couple escaped lockdown and travelled through NSW to Queensland where a 44-year-old woman has returned a positive result.

NSW Health Authorities have identified a number of times the woman could have infected people while in public throughout regional NSW.

The couple entered NSW on June 1, five days after Victoria went into a statewide lockdown to contain and out-of-control cluster.

On June 5, the couple crossed the border into Queensland at Goondiwindi.

The woman tested positive on June 5 in Queensland after first suffering symptoms of Covid-19 on June 3.

It is believed she was staying with family on the Sunshine Coast.

The woman’s partner has tested negative but has been admitted to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital given he had spent an extended amount of time in the car with her.

Cafe Omega in Moree, which has been exposed to a positive Covid-19 case.

It’s understood the woman and her partner only came forward for testing because the partner needed a negative Covid test result for work purposes.

NSW Health have issued alerts for people who were at the same venues as the couple in Gillenbah, Forbes, Dubbo, Coonabarabran and Moree.

The couple had visited Moffat Beach, King’s Beach, Caloundra and Goondiwindi while in Queensland.

Anyone who lives in or has visited these areas since 1 June, is asked to be especially vigilant for the onset of even the mildest of cold-like symptoms, and is urged to come forward for testing immediately if they appear, then isolate until a negative result is received.
