Police issued NRL star Jai Arrow’s teammate Liam Knight with two fines when Arrow’s dog attacked a smaller dog at Bronte Beach – two months before the animal struck again and killed a greyhound on the Central Coast.
And officers are now working with Central Coast Council staff, who are looking into the most recent incident when Mr Arrow’s American Staffordshire terrier, Thor, fatally mauled greyhound Ruby at Bateau Bay in early July.
In April, Thor had attacked a miniature schnauzer called Millie while being walked by Mr Knight at Bronte Beach.
Mr Arrow was not present during either incident.
Police issued Mr Knight with two infringement notices for being in charge of a dog not under control in a public space and being in charge of a dog which attacks an animal.
The fines, issued in May, were for $330 and $1320.
Central Coast Council rangers are holding Thor.
Arrow has enlisted lawyer Paul McGirr to try and stop his pet from being destroyed.
Mr McGirr said Mr Knight had been shaken following the incident involving Arrow’s dog in Bronte.
“I know that Liam felt extremely bad about it as well, they’re flatmates, it’s a tragic circumstance for everybody,” he said.
