Two people were threatened by a man with a knife on Thursday morning at Coffs Harbour jetty.

A woman has been robbed at knifepoint in one of two incidents in the same night at the Coffs Harbour Jetty.

On Wednesday a 53-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman, who were not known to each other, each parked their vehicles in the carpark off Jordan Esplanade near the Coffs Harbour Jetty.

About 2.30am, the male driver woke to a man knocking on his side window, requesting a lighter. The man then produced a knife, demanding the vehicle’s key.

The driver kicked the man and locked himself inside the vehicle before notifying police. The armed man then fled.

Shortly after, the female driver woke to a man knocking on the vehicle’s window, requesting to use her phone.

The man grabbed at the phone as the woman held it before he produced a knife and demanded the phone.

He then pulled the woman from the vehicle and took the keys, however, he fled after he was unable to start the car.

Officers from Coffs/Clarence Police District attended and commenced an investigation.

The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged between 18 and 30, about 170cm to 175cm tall, and of slim build.

As inquiries continue, witnesses or anyone with further information about the incident, are urged to contact police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
