After two crazily challenging years, the 2021 Toormina High School graduating students finally got their chance to celebrate.
Their formal at Pacific Bay Resort on Monday night was as well earned as it was anticipated.
Year 12 year advisor Leanne Firkins, who has been with the group since they were in Year 7, paid rare tribute.
“They are the best year that the school has had for many years,” she said.
“They have shown empathy.
“They are smart, happy and resilient.”
Linger on that last wrap, as it’s a reflection of a cohort who have completed their final two years of secondary school under the shadow of Covid, lockdowns and off-and-on remote learning.
Their graduation assembly was a showcase for the group, and Ms Perkins said the leaving speech was “honest and funny”.
