Summer Bowden: Assault, resist police at Coffs Hotel case back in court

The young woman banned from alcohol as part of her bail conditions and facing several charges in relation to multiple alleged victims at a Coffs pub has confirmed her pleas after security footage was secured by her lawyer.

Summer Bowden has pleaded not guilty to several charges which relate to multiple alleged victims after a night at a Coffs pub went horribly wrong in April this year.

When the case was last mentioned in court, her lawyer Todd Ritchie asked for it to be adjourned to access CCTV footage from the night to help determine “who’s who” and advise his client so she can “confirm or vary her plea”.

The 21-year-old is facing seven charges in relation to the incident at the hotel on the corner of West High Street and the Pacific Highway between 11pm and midnight on April 8.

The matter was back before Coffs Harbour Local Court again on Wednesday and pleas of not guilty confirmed for three charges of common assault and one charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Bowden has also pleaded not guilty to being an excluded person failing to leave a premises when required to do so.

Bowden has previously pleaded guilty to two charges of resisting two separate police officers, including a senior constable, on the night between 11.30pm and 11.45pm.

Bowden was granted bail at Port Macquarie Local Court the day after the incident on a number of conditions, including she abstain from alcohol and does not enter any licensed premises.

The hearing date has been set for April 6 and is estimated to take four hours.
