A group of young Sawtell sleuths have created a series of charming wanted posters after the theft of their bike.
The mystery posters appeared around Elizabeth St, Sawtell last week and describe in detail what the person who took the bike may have looked like.
“This man stole my friends bike and we have a plan,” the poster says.
“Please find this person and call this number!!”
A parent of one of the kids, who wanted to remain anonymous, said children had spent the day playing when they left their bike at the front of a property and went inside to eat.
When they returned, the bike was gone. While they did not see the person who took the bike, using their powers of investigation, the kids deduced the crime may have been related to other bike thefts in the area.
So they composed the identikit drawing based on a description of another alleged offender.
While the methods may be unorthodox, the maverick detectives have been known to get results.
However, The Advocate understands that as yet the bike has not been recovered.
The town was also the scene of a spate of robberies last week, prompting the Sawtell Chamber of Commerce to post vision of one of the incidents on Facebook.
Police confirmed around 3am on Tuesday June 29 two thieves entered the Breadcrumz Bakery and threatened a staff member with a screwdriver before demanding money and fleeing in a stolen vehicle.
They later reportedly robbed other shops in nearby Toormina.
In an unrelated incident less than 24 hours later, a woman was pulled from her car after being threatened by a man with a knife at Coffs Harbour Jetty.
The same man had earlier threatened another person at the jetty, but that person was able to escape and call the police.
