A string of break-ins allegedly committed by a group of teen boys on the state’s North Coast came back to bite them real quick – quite literally – as one unlucky member was attacked by a police dog while trying to flee.

Two boys, 15, were charged with three counts of aggravated break and entering a dwelling in company to steal and two counts of entering included land not prescribed premises without a lawful excuse.

Police will allege the three teenage boys stole two cars from a Dammerel Cres home before breaking into other properties located nearby.

At those other properties, located on McDougall St, Lomandra Court and Tasman St, stolen items included electronics, wallets and keys.

The group were tracked down by police after an extensive search and pursued on foot to a backyard on Pacific St.

Two boys, 15, and a another, 14, were arrested and taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station, with checks confirming one of the older teenagers was in breach of his bail conditions for an unrelated matter.

The 14-year-old sustained a dog bite during the pursuit and was taken to hospital for assessment, before being taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station and charged.

All three were refused bail to appear before a children’s court on Tuesday.

Two other boys, aged 13 and 15, were also arrested in the area for trespass offences.

They have been dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.
