A Coffs Harbour teenager allegedly attacked an officer after leading police on a high speed chase in a stolen car.

Daniel Thomas Jackson, 18, is accused of fleeing police with a co-accused youth, reaching over 110kmh in a 50kmh zone before he was apprehended and lashed out.

Jackson faced Coffs Harbour Local Court via audiovisual link on Tuesday, applying for bail after pleading guilty to be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.

He pleaded not guilty to intimidate police officer in execution of duty, two charges of assault police officer in execution of duty and three charges of hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty.

Jackson and his co-accused made a dash on foot after the car chase came to an end, according to police.

The teens then allegedly became “violent” and Jackson struck a police officer.

Police claim Jackson threatened officers during his arrest and said: “I’ll come find you and kill you”.

Prosecutor Sergeant O'Connor opposed bail due to severity of the charges.

“It’s a very serious matter and there is unacceptable risk toward the community,” he said.

She said no bail conditions could mitigate the risk posed to the community.

Jackson’s defence lawyer, Braeden Fernandez, said Jackson was particularly vulnerable in custody as a young indigenous man.

Jackson allegedly told police: “I’ll come find you and kill you” when arrested.

Jackson faced court nursing visible facial injuries and Mr Fernandez said he needed hospital care.

“The injuries are consistent with a concussion and he is yet to receive treatment,” he said.

Mr Fernandez said bail conditions could include a night time curfew and restriction on associating with the co-accused.

Magistrate Brett Thomas granted Jackson bail, but issued a stern warning.

“You’re in the adult court not the children’s court anymore,” he said.

Jackson is due to face Coffs Harbour Local Court on February 22 for mention.

His co-accused was due to face the Children’s Court of NSW on Tuesday.
