New adult store coming to the Coffs Harbour CBD as Coffs booms

A new adult store has been approved for the Coffs Harbour CBD.
Known as La Boudoir Adult Store it will be located in the vacant shop at 2c Park Avenue across from Woolworths.
Speaking with the Coffs Coast Advocate when the proposal was first lodged with Coffs Harbour City Council earlier this year, Charles Archer outlined his vision for the store.
“It will be classy – not a dark and dingy set up like some of the shops I’ve been into.
“It’s something we all do at the end of the day and it’s one of the oldest industries. There will be adult toys, gags and gimmicks, that kind of thing.”
He grew up in Coffs Harbour and like many other locals he is keen to see the CBD revitalised and says new businesses like his are part of the solution.
The NSW Government recently released the 20-year Coffs Harbour Regional City Action Plan.
It recognises that the city centre is critical to Coffs Harbour’s success as a regional city.
The region is in the midst of a development boom with Council planning staff under the pump to get new applications approved and a perfect storm of multimillion dollar projects rolling out across the Coffs Coast.
Recent plans submitted to Council include a $25.4 million redevelopment of the The Promenade on Coffs Creek.
Other development underway include the controversial $81m Cultural and Civic Space in Gordon Street.
The store will be classed as a restricted premises with no promotion of the adult products on the outside of the building and customers must be over 18.
“You won’t be exposed to the product until you walk in the doors,” Mr Archer said.
The sale of sex toys has boomed during the pandemic and the La Boudoir Adult Store will not be the first of its kind in Coffs Harbour.
At the Flirt Adult Store in Little St, sex toy sales have skyrocketed.
Initially the new store on Park Avenue will employ three staff members. Hours of operation will be from 10am to 7pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and from 10am to 8pm on Thursday.
A closed circuit television system will be installed with cameras located showing people at the register area and those entering and leaving the premises.
