More lockdowns? New modelling suggests 2022 restrictions despite vaccinations

Another person has tested positive for Covid-19 in Coffs Harbour, bringing the total number of new cases diagnosed since Saturday to three.

In a statement on Thursday, a Mid North Coast Local Health District spokesman said a person who was a close contact of the earlier case diagnosed on the weekend had returned a positive result.

The spokesman said the person had been in isolation since Saturday and was not infectious in the community.

The person who tested positive on Saturday was staying at the Hoey Moey and did not acquire the case locally.

They remain in isolation.

The Hoey Moey confirmed the person was staying in its accommodation, however after assessment from NSW Health the venue was given the all clear and was not identified as a venue of concern.

NSW Health say that when a confirmed case attends a venue while possibly infectious, a risk assessment is carried out to determine whether others may have been exposed and whether there is a public health risk.

Another person, who acquired the virus from outside the region, tested positive on Tuesday but they are not linked to the other two Hoey Moey cases.

A total of 11 cases have been reported on the Mid North Coast since the beginning on the NSW outbreak.

Medical centre closes for deep clean

Galambila Aboriginal Corporation has closed its doors for deep cleaning after a person from outside the region visited the clinic on Monday before returning a positive Covid-19 test on Tuesday.

The clinic published a statement urging anyone that was in the waiting room between 1.38pm and 2.30pm to get tested and isolate at home.

Appointments are being rescheduled and the clinic is anticipated to re-open on Friday.

The news came after NSW Health announced on Tuesday that stay-at-home orders will be introduced for at least seven days in the Kempsey, Byron Shire and Tweed Local Government Areas from 5pm.

Residents and anyone else who has been in the Kempsey area on September 14, and Byron or Tweed on September 18, must stay at home unless it is for an essential reason. These include shopping for food, medical care, getting vaccinated, compassionate needs, exercise, work or tertiary education.

A full list of Covid-19 testing clinic locations and opening hours are listed on the NSW Government website.
