A magistrate has warned a Coffs Harbour woman about the potential dire consequences of drink driving after she caused a domino effect crash involving three vehicles.
Courtney Dillon, 32, of Toormina, was travelling in her Mitsubishi Lancer at only about 30km/h when she hit the back of a Subaru Forester shortly on Ocean Parade shortly after 7pm on June 13
The impact shunted the Subaru forward into the back of a Mitsubishi Magna.
NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and took Dillon to Coffs Harbour Hospital for mandatory drug and alcohol testing.
She returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.196 – almost four times the legal limit.
At Coffs Harbour Local Court on Wednesday, Magistrate Aaron Tang told Dillon: “The drunker you are the more significant the risk”.
“People go to jail for this,” she said.
Dillon pleaded guilty to high-range drink driving.
Mr Tang took into account that Dillon was facing family stressors at the time of offending.
Dillon was convicted and sentenced to a nine-month community correction order.
Her licence was disqualified for six months and she will be subject to a 24-month interlock licence order.
