A well-known Mid-North Coast real estate agent has had a two-year apprehended violence order issued against her to protect another individual, as she prepares to fight charges stemming from an alleged police pursuit.

Elizabeth Jane Miles, 30, a Coffs Harbour real estate agent and ten-year industry veteran, appeared in court on November 25 and 26, where the court heard about two applications for AVOs against her, along with her existing charges.

One two-year AVO was granted while a second AVO application was adjourned, the court heard.

Miles returns to Coffs Harbour Local Court on February 6, 2026.

On October 8, Miles pleaded not guilty to police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty, and possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit.

The charges relate to an alleged incident on October 7 involving plainclothes officers in an unmarked car.

The court heard Elizabeth Jane Miles has been a registered real estate agent working with the same Coffs Harbour company for more than ten years.

Her defence solicitor Greg Coombes told the court that Miles did not recognise the vehicle or the occupants as law enforcement officers.

“She wasn’t aware they were police,” Mr Coombes said.

Mr Coombes told the court Miles was “dragged from her vehicle” by the plainclothes officers after a brief pursuit that was less than one kilometre in duration and involved “no excessive speed”.

Magistrate Greg Grogin said police allege Miles had “OC spray” (oleoresin capsicum spray) in one of her car doors at the time of her arrest.

But Mr Coombes told the court that it “wasn’t used” and “wasn’t displayed” at any time during the incident.

Miles entered pleas of not guilty and was granted conditional bail to reside in Coffs Harbour when she first appeared in Bail Division Court 1 on October 8.

She will return to court on February 6.
