A semi-professional footballer already facing serious drug charges has been allegedly bashed by suspected bikies in a pub brawl, police say.
Sione Fangupo, 28, was allegedly attacked by four men suspected to be Mongols MC members in a late night brawl at a Woolgoolga tavern about 11.10pm on Friday November 28, which has now landed all five men before the courts.
Bradley Kinlyside, 37, Tony Sadek, 27, Geoffrey Cooke, 46, and Aaron Dawson, 49, were all charged with affray, with Kinlyside and Cooke granted bail under strict conditions banning them from associating with any Mongols bikies.
But in a dramatic twist, five days later police arrested Fangupo and charged him with affray and breach of bail over the same alleged incident.
The four alleged attackers were all charged with affray and faced online Bail Division Court 1 on Sunday, November 30 – with Kinlyside and Cooke granted bail.
Kinlyside’s bail conditions state he is “not to be in public wearing or in possession of any Mongols OMCG clothing or insignia” and “not to approach any premises known by the accused to be frequented by members of the Mongol OMCG.”
Cooke is ordered “not to approach, contact or associate with any person associated with any Mongols OMCG” and “not to be seen in public wearing any Mongols OMCG branded clothing.”
Both men are also banned from entering Woolgoolga.
Sadek and Dawson remain behind bars after being refused bail.
Fangupo was arrested on December 3 and refused bail after appearing in online Bail Division Court 1 charged with affray and breach of bail.
The 28-year-old fencer and Woolgoolga Seahorses football player had already been on bail facing three counts of possessing a prohibited drug and one count of supplying a prohibited drug more than a commercial quantity.
All five men are due to appear before Coffs Harbour Local Court on January 14 2025.
No pleas have been entered at this stage.
Fangupo faces Coffs Harbour Local Court on the earlier charges on December 9 along with his brother and co-accused Solomone Fangupo.
Older brother Sione had previously been granted Supreme Court bail over alleged drug supply, while his younger brother Solomone Fangupo remains behind bars after dropping a Supreme Court bail bid.
Solomone Fangupo, 27, faces multiple charges including supply a prohibited drug more than large commercial quantity, supply a prohibited drug, possess prohibited drug, two counts of possess a prohibited drug, two counts of possess or use a prohibited weapon without a permit, fail to comply with digital evidence access order direction and deal with property proceeds of crime less than $100,000 and more than $5,000.
Neither men have entered pleas.
