After enduring Christmas without her infant son’s stolen ashes, a Coffs Harbour mum has issued a fresh appeal for the return of the precious keepsake.
Cath Mills had her handbag stolen before Christmas, containing the small, palm-sized box with baby Finn’s ashes, leaving her heartbroken.
Ms Mills said her family had always commemorated Finn at Christmas for the last 16 years by lighting a candle – but felt his absence this last Christmas more than ever.
“Last year Christmas Day was a little bit sadder than usual because I don’t have his ashes with me.
“His birthday is coming up in March so these special times are more difficult,” she said.
On March 18, 2008, Finn died just two minutes before he was born — the first of two losses for the mum of four after losing a girl in utero — Ruby.
The ashes are so important to Ms Mills that she always carries them in her handbag for sake keeping.
She urges anyone who knows the whereabouts of the ashes to come forward.
“I don’t care who it was, that doesn’t bother me. I just want to bring him home,” Ms Mills said.
“Put our hearts at rest and bring my boy home.”
