In the middle of the night, a Coffs Harbour woman woke up her lifelong friends, to drag them sleepy-eyed and befuddled to her house, before announcing they had scored a massive lotto windfall.
On Saturday night the woman banged on doors and called incessantly to wake her friends of 30 years after realising their syndicate had won $2.5 million in the Saturday Gold Lotto.
“I checked my ticket in bed while I was trying to sleep,” she said.
“I had my glasses on, I thought I was seeing double.
“I kept cleaning my glasses and checking again.
“Then I finally realised what I was seeing was right!
“I thought ‘Oh my god!’ and I couldn’t wait to tell the rest of the group.”
The woman said the win was “incredible” and the syndicate members are “all so excited.”
The group plan on celebrating shortly — firstly with a dinner out where no doubt they will all be discussing how they plan on spending their share of the winnings.
