The fourth anniversary of Crimson hairdressers at Coffs Harbour did not go as Jaymi-lee Austin imagined.

Instead of waking up to welcome workers and customers, Ms Austin was woken early by a call from police advising a police car had crashed into her Murdock St business.

“This morning at 5am the police were involved in a high-speed car chase and the police vehicle ended up losing control and going through the side wall of my hair salon,” she said.

“It’s so lucky it happened in the morning and lucky there were no clients and no one got hurt.”

Engineers were on site at Crimson Hair Studio And Makeup Artistry on Monday morning, assessing the damage as Ms Austin was looking into an insurance claim.

“I’m surprised to hear that people think I’ll be able to start operating again tomorrow because it’s a huge mess at the moment,” she said.

Police confirmed officers lost control of the police car during a pursuit about 5am.

The officers tried to pull over a small blue Suzuki SUV on Orlando St to breath test the driver.

The driver failed to stop and officers took off after them before the driver lost control and smashed into the Murdock St building.

The two police officers were treated at the scene and one suffered a minor injury.

The SUV was found ablaze on Wilton Place a short time later.

Police have urged anyone with information or relevant dashcam footage to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
