Police have arrested and charged a 25-year old man after searching his property, over an alleged stabbing which saw a wounded man present to hospital last month.
Alex Fitzgerald was arrested on Wednesday at a Harbour Drive, Coffs Harbour property and charged with causing wounding/grievous bodily harm to person with intent to murder and failing to comply with a digital evidence access order direction.
The charges come after a 19-year old man, who has since been discharged, presented to Coffs Harbour Hospital with a stab wound on September 6.
Officers from Coffs/Clarence Police District subsequently launched an investigation under Strike Force Lumberta and established a crime scene at a Minorie Dr, Toormina address where the incident allegedly occurred.
Fitzgerald’s charges follow a renewed police appeal to find two men seen in a dark-coloured utility, believed to have been at the scene of a stabbing.
On Thursday Fitzgerald appeared in online court Bail Division 1 where he did not apply for bail and was formally refused bail by the court.
His next court appearance is October 25 in Coffs Harbour.
